How It Works

Our Simple, Guided Process

Getting your estate plan in place is simpler than you think. We guide you through every step.

01

Initial Consultation

We begin with a thorough consultation to understand your family, your assets, your goals, and your concerns. This is a judgment-free conversation designed to ensure we build the right plan for your unique situation.

02

Plan Design & Engagement

Based on our consultation, we recommend a customized estate plan and provide you with a clear, written engagement letter outlining the scope of services and the agreed flat fee — before any work begins.

03

Drafting & Review

Our attorney carefully drafts each document in your plan. We then provide you with drafts for your review and address any questions or revisions before finalizing your documents.

04

Signing & Delivery

We coordinate the formal execution of your estate planning documents — including proper witnessing and notarization where required — and deliver your completed plan, ready to protect your family.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your Questions, Answered

We know that estate planning can feel overwhelming. Here are answers to the questions we hear most often from our clients.

Do I really need an estate plan? +
Yes — and sooner than you might think. Estate planning is not just for the wealthy or the elderly. If you have any assets, any loved ones, or any wishes about your medical care, you need an estate plan. Without one, Pennsylvania law determines how your assets are distributed and who makes decisions for you in an emergency — and those outcomes may not reflect your wishes at all. An estate plan puts you in control.
What documents should a basic estate plan include? +
A comprehensive basic estate plan typically includes a Last Will and Testament, a Durable Power of Attorney, a Healthcare Power of Attorney, and a Living Will (Advance Healthcare Directive). Depending on your situation, a Revocable Living Trust may also be appropriate. During your consultation, we will assess your specific circumstances and recommend the documents that best serve your goals.
What is the difference between a Will and a Trust? +
A Will is a legal document that directs how your assets will be distributed after your death. It takes effect only upon death and must go through probate — the court-supervised process of validating your Will and distributing your estate. A Revocable Living Trust, by contrast, takes effect during your lifetime, allows you to manage your assets while you are alive, and transfers assets to your beneficiaries upon death without the need for probate. Trusts are generally more private, faster, and more flexible than Wills, though both serve important purposes in a complete estate plan.
What happens if I die without a Will in Pennsylvania? +
If you die without a valid Will — called dying "intestate" — Pennsylvania's intestacy laws determine who inherits your assets. The distribution follows a strict statutory formula based on family relationships, which may not align with your wishes. For example, assets may be divided among a spouse and children in a way you would not have chosen, and unmarried partners receive nothing under Pennsylvania law. An unmarried partner, a close friend, a favorite charity, or a stepchild would receive nothing under Pennsylvania's intestacy laws. Only a valid Will ensures your assets go where you want them to go.
How much does an estate plan cost? +
Adelphi Legacy Group charges flat fees for estate planning services, which are discussed transparently before any work begins. The cost of your plan depends on the complexity of your situation and the documents required. We believe you should know exactly what your estate plan will cost before you commit — no surprise hourly bills, no hidden fees. Contact us for a consultation and we will provide a clear, upfront quote tailored to your needs.
How long does it take to complete an estate plan? +
In most cases, we are able to prepare and finalize a complete estate plan within two to four weeks from the date of your consultation, depending on the complexity of your plan and the timeliness of information provided. We understand that some clients have urgent needs and will make every effort to accommodate expedited timelines when circumstances require.
I already have a Will. Do I need to update it? +
Possibly. Your estate plan should be reviewed whenever you experience a significant life event — including marriage, divorce, the birth or adoption of a child, the death of a beneficiary or executor, a major change in your financial situation, or a move to a new state. We generally recommend reviewing your estate plan every three to five years even in the absence of major life changes, as tax laws and estate planning strategies evolve over time.
Is my estate plan private? +
A Will becomes a public document when it is admitted to probate, meaning anyone can access it. A Revocable Living Trust, by contrast, is a private document that does not go through probate and is never made part of the public record. If privacy is a concern for you, we will discuss trust-based planning options during your consultation.
Can I make my own estate planning documents online? +
Online document services can generate generic legal forms, but estate planning documents must comply with Pennsylvania's specific execution requirements — including proper witnessing and notarization — and must be tailored to your individual circumstances to be effective. A document that is improperly executed or fails to account for your specific family and financial situation may be invalid or may not achieve your goals. The cost of a defective estate plan can far exceed the cost of doing it right the first time.
How do I get started? +
